Troubleshooting  with Android

There are various settings on Android phones that can dramatically change the experience using Whoo.

Note: The test was done on a Samsung S9 running Android 10 and is applicable to all Android devices. If you need further assistance, please fill out a support -form.

It seems like the default behavior of this phone is to silently show you a brief notification (oops… not very useful).
Fortunately, there is a set of fixes to your settings to resolve all these problems.

1. Let’s make sure we know how it behaves now.
Please go to your front door and use your Whoo Intercom to call your own phone.
(Don’t answer right away)

Please make note of three potential issues:

Does your phone make a sound/vibration?

Does it show you a notification on the screen… like this one:

Does the notification stay on the screen long enough for you to answer?

You are reading this because at least one of these things didn’t go well…

Below are some solutions starting with the most common problems.

2. You probably did see a notification but it went away too quickly.

This is the most common problem.

Let’s fix it!

Go to Settings -> Accessibility

Click Time to take action and set it to 30 seconds.

And now we have to restart the phone!
Press and hold the power button… select Restart.

Test it again… if it fixed your problem, you are done!

3. If you did NOT see the notification at all...

Then you probably see a little phone icon on the top left (next to the time)… drag down to open the notification tray to answer.

This is not ideal… let’s fix it!

Open Settings -> Apps & notifications

Click on the whoo icon

Notifications

Primary Voice Channel (click on the words, not the switch… make sure the switch stays on)

You probably have it set to Silent… change it to Alerting.

Also...

Turn on Pop on screen

And now we have to restart the phone!

Press and hold the power button… select Restart.

Test it again… if it fixed your problem, you are done!

4. Sometimes you either never heard the sound or the previous procedure ended up breaking your incoming Whoo call sound!

That can be frustrating.

Let’s fix that!

Follow the previous section to navigate down to:

Settings -> Apps & notifications -> Whoo -> Notifications -> Primary Voice Channel

Now click on Advanced and Sound… pick a good ring tone for your doorbell and Save.

And now we have to restart the phone!

Press and hold the power button… select Restart.
